Special word form volunteer Lisa:Here’s the deal. He’s special. He needs a special home. He has severe arthritis in his elbow resulting most likely from untreated previous trauma. He NEEDS continued care to make him less achey, so his special family needs to be found. What would be ideal is a very caring and attentive home, one dedicated to his care ( ie. continued Nsaids, joint supplements, frequent leash walks and controlled play). This boy strikes my heart personally because I live with a special needs dog that has severe arthritis and scar tissue from previous trauma and her life is the “cats meow.” Much quality in life can still be had by these particular dogs, if maintained with a responsible owner.

He is dog friendly ( not sure about cats currently) and would fit in perfect with an already established family. Sweet Thor is about a year old and is ready to celebrate the holidays with you! Come down and meet him today to see if you are ready for all this awesomeness!!

Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center has wonderful pets available for adoption.  As of December 6, all animals are now at the new shelter at 341 Birdneck Road.  The former shelter on Leroy Drive is now closed.  If you have lost a pet, please visit the shelter in person and often as lost animals arrive everyday.
